  there is no doubt in my mind that the glory days of jehovah's witnesses are over.

  from my knowledge and experience with wt history, i would define the glory days as the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's.

  with knorr's great expansionary vision and discipline, dubs in the 1950's became a "somebody" in the 1950's.

  over the last few months, changes have occured on this board.

  many that complained have either left or post limitedly.

  constant swearing is no longer accepted.

  I read some time before I actually got the courage up to participate. One reason is that things around here seemed so full throttle to me. It used to be that one could be attacked for little reason. I don't see that anymore. I too think that those that have left caused a great deal of trouble, and who wants that? I don't mind disagreement, but there is no need to get as personal as things used to. Perhaps it's just me, but I don't notice the moderators at all. I don't see where the forum has become politically correct or stifled in any way. And while I've been known to drop the big "F" bomb a few times, I don't miss seeing it every post. Just my thoughts . . . .

  how would you react if doctors come up with a test that could determine if your son would turn out to be gay when he grows up?

  i personally, having two young sons myself, would not want to know.

  If I could know anything about my child, I would want to know it whether it's sexual orientation, IQ, eye colour or whatever. I wouldn't wish that lifestyle on my child though, simply because of all the problems society causes for homosexuals. When my wife and I bought our first house, our next door neighbour was gay and I remember when his partner died of AIDS. He came over because he had no one else to share his feelings with. His family had ostracized him because of his lifestyle choice. As I say, I wouldn't wish that lifestyle on my son or daughter, but if that is who they are, or choose to be, then of course I would love and cherish them. To do anything else as a parent is repugnant to me.

  i am not, and never have been a jw.

  my interest in them started 1 year ago when i started to 'study'.

  going on to the internet, and searching ' jehovah's witnesses' led me to this board, (among others).

  Please don't be so hard on yourself. I think everyone on this board has felt left out or ignored at one time or another. For a while I thought I was a thread killer! But there are also quite a lot of people that pop in and out. I usually only have access at work, and I'm sure there are many others like me, so it makes it difficult to respond in a timely fashion. Please stick around awhile longer. I'm sure you'll see a different side.

  Serena thanks "Jehovah" after US Open...

  serena williams, after winning the us open women's tennis championship tonight, thanked "jehovah" for blessing her family.

  in the background were numerous us flags, and of course, prior to the match, the williams sisters were there and standing while various patriotic songs were played (oh, that's right....they were already standing since they had to walk out onto the court....guess that's okay).

  while watching all that i could not help but think of all the jw youths who have been told that they could not particicpate in organized sports at school or otherwise.

  The only way you can participate in competive sports is if you become successful and contribute a great deal of money and positive publicity to the Witnesses. The same thing applies to the entertainment field (singer, actor, etc.). It's pandering at its best.

  From what little I've read, the consensus seems to be that it's all a bunch of lies spread by apostates bent on destroying the True Organisation giving proof positive that we are indeed living in the Last Days wherein Satan and the demons to work overtime to draw away true Christians from their appointed rounds of endless meetings, faking field service time, sucking up to elders, reading the answers directly from the Watchtower and mind-numbing gossip.

  How Much is Shunning Worth?

  my jw niece called me last night on the phone.

  she is having a pampered chef party (for those of you who don't know what these are, it's like a tupperware party except they cook a meal and sell the cooking stuff).

  it is going to be at my jw sister's house and all the dubs will be there....including my "best" friend who ratted me out to my sister regarding us celebrating christmas last year.. i am not invited....but my niece would like me to buy some stuff and to make up for shunning me she is offering to give me her hostess discount....woohoo huh?.

  Wow. How sad to be so completely into earning salvation that she couldn't be able to appreciate the wonder of God. Denial is powerful.

  i just wanted to say that i'm having a blast reading all the posts.

  i stumbled upon this site because i was curious to see what the jehovah's witnesses have to say about september 11th and instead i've been laughing at the top ten's and such.
